Watch your tongue…

More often with family and friends, we talk sensible and non-sensible utterances. At our comfort zone speech regulation is at the minimal. Those are the times one should limit speeches that are bond to bind them. They are the *diseases of the tongue*.

Just as the bible recons the tongue is the smallest of all body parts but the most dangerous. Remember from our mouth comes our uttermost feeling Matthew 15:18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’ To some what you speak reflects who you are. I have been in those situations when words just flew *boom* next was Oh! My God ‘me n’ my big mouth’ mmmhh! Bet you’ve been there too? James 3:6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

If you have to avoid slander do this personal check, on you and your buddies:

Excessive talking- more often those people who talk too much are prone to either tell loads of lies or exaggerate some minute situation. Attention seekers fall here; they always want to be heard for the sake of it.

Idle words- speaking for the sake of just ‘speaking’ be weary. Idle words are costly and even embarrassing, have you ever been asked “who asked for your opinion?” silence speaks loudest so dear where your opinion doesn’t count just shut up. Save your breath for another time. Matthew 12:36 But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.

Gossip- this is the first sign of a very toxic person. They never get enough of passing irrelevant information. Chronic once will say, 'na si udaka 'or 'udaku nayo' (not really Gossip). It’s just engraved in their hearts, they are ‘BBC local news agents’. If you know them ‘run baby run’ and if you are one CHANGE. Proverbs 16:27 A scoundrel plots evil, and his speech is like a scorching fire.

Flatters- sweet talks always, think twice least they slain you.  Sycophants always sugar their words for personal gain. They check on a weakness and maximize on it. Most of them are ‘users’ when they tire off you, leftovers are more economical ‘they can feed pigs’.

Hastiness of speech- never rush to speak. Let the brain do the talking as the mouth does the transmission.  All Attention seekers rush to speak and natter nonsense. For the wise a word is enough. Proverbs 13:3 He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.

Lying- the most devious disease of the tongue. All flatters, gossips and idle mongers are open reservoirs for lies. Watch your tongue; deceit slays faster than a double edged sword. Sly individuals are very scheming. They are time bombs and consuming fires. Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Psalm 120:2 Save me, O LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.

Silence is the best medication for these diseases of the tongue. Be safe Let the brain do the talking. To avoid trouble just watch your tongue. He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity Proverbs 21:23.
